PATO PEKIN Chinese Restaurant
Just got back from yet another great evening at the PATO PEKIN Chinese Restaurant at Rojales (right opposite the Petrol Station). Good food/wine, good service, good company and excellent price (especially tonight) as we were treated !!
I would be very interested to know if any of you have tried this restaurant yet. If You haven't, you really must give it a go !!
There you go again I am drooling at the mouth at the thought of your meal. Roll on September I can't wait. Well its off to the chippy for me..............

Can anyone give me any advice on what this Island is like, how to get there, what is the cost and how far is it?

Tabarca Island, Alicante is an island where adventure meets the sun worshipper!
The island is the largest island in a small group (archipelago) of islands known as the 'Islote de la Cantera'. Tabarca Island itself is a protected marine reserve and it is this that draws the scuba divers and snorkellers who swim amongst the vast numbers of fish and marine life that surround this little island.
The island is 1750 meters long, with a maximum breadth of 300 meters and it is absolutely flat. It is unique because it is the only island that is inhabited on the Alicante coast. The western end is remote, yet in stark contrast the eastern end is populated by the village of Nova Tabarca, which homes a small population of 100 people. The beach is small which the port backs onto. Coves are plentiful around the island and the waters are calm.
Getting To Isla de Tabarca - Information
Lying approximately 8 nautical miles (15 km) south southeast from Alicante and 5 nautical miles (9 km) east south east from Santa Pola this island can be accessed by one of the designated ferries leaving Santa Pola, Alicante or Torrevieja on a daily basis. They cost around 14 - 20 euros for a return trip.

Information for Parents
It is possible to take buggies / prams out to the Island and we think it is suitable for all ages. Do take travel sickness tablets for your children in case you discover on this journey that they suffer from sea sickness and do take all your nappy supplies, nappy sacks and baby food for them. Make sure you have plenty of water. Plastic shoes for the sea, whether you will be paddling, swimming or cove jumping, you and your children will need them!
My advice to you is this, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on the day then I would advise you take a cool box with a packed lunch. Remember there aren't too many restaurants on the island and visitors are a "captive audience" so to speak, if you want to eat on the island be prepared to pay!

There are a few facilities here for the disabled and if you are in a wheelchair you will find the terrain in some places quite difficult.

TRUE OR FALSE. Corruption Charges
Ive just heard the latest gossippppp....I was just wondering if any of the new goverment members could confirm that Trini Martinez and,Mariano Marti have been sent to prison on corruption charges. If this is true what amazing news it is. Let me stress this is just common talk on the Urb write now so if anyone knows more please keep us informed and if it is true i feel sorry for all the past councillors over the past four years.
I think gossip it will be.any problems these two people may of been into,would of been quite recently or we would of heard about it.Spanish courts are notoriously slow,I believe the Barreras case is still not sorted and that happened years ago.
But if on the outside chance their is some truth in it,I wouldnt go into politics with Marc Lewis,as he has been second in command to both Barreras and Marti.Although in the Barreras case,Marc was one of only two Councillors to be exonerated from all charges.Undoubtably if it is true about Marti,Marc will be blameless,
I dont particulary like Marc,but i would put my trust in his honesty
The corruption charges - Its true. However they are not in prison.
on the 4th of June this year, the prosecutor for Anti-corruption in the Provincial court of Alicante, filed charges against Trinidad Martinez and Mariano Marti. The charges have been brought forward after that the previous (old) mayor of San Fulgencio, Fina Mora went to the courts and claimed that Marti and Martinez that the townhall had permitted construction of appartment buildings on land that had been assigned to house sport arenas or sport related buildings.
The anti-corruption prosecutor has asked for 2 years imprisonment and 10 years loss of future public offices. More information about the matter can be found here:

Lovely break in Villamartin
Although my gorgeous apartment is for sale, we have just enjoyed a fantastic family break there (all 30 mins down the road, but he ho!!) the bars and restaurants were busy, lots of people out and about and the nightly kids things in the plaza were just great (mine are 6 and 4 and love them all!!) we walked across the road every night (just a 2 min walk) and played in the pool all day. So, the long and short of this post is my apartment is reluctantly for sale and is ideally placed in central Villamartin, where all facilities are within walking distance. It is ready to move into, take on as a holiday home or rent out, as EVERYTHING from pots, pans to bed linen is staying. The Casa Nicolas Restaurant closed down last weekend after operating for several years! Is this the sign of the times that they were unable to move it on or was it the lack of people coming over on holiday and residents having to change their way of life, and not going out as much because of the credit crunch. If anyone has any views on this they are most welcome.
